Brown-Eyed Angel (Lauren’s Song) (1998)
John Fish/M. Papierski

Lauren’s birth was such a blessing to Susan and me.  She was a joy from the moment I laid eyes on her.  I wanted to write a song for her to let her know how I felt about her and to lift her up to God in prayer.  Like her mother, Lauren has such a tender and compassionate heart and is very willing to serve others.  My prayer for Lauren is that she seek God and follow the Holy Spirit’s lead in her life so that she may know the joy of living for Christ.

It was the first day of winter,
The day you came into my life.
I thought I’d hold you in my arms forever.
How quickly the seasons pass us by.
You stand before me a young lady,
Pretty, silly and filled with dreams.
I pray that God would grant (to) you the wisdom,
To know He will provide your every need.

Chorus

You’re my Brown-Eyed Angel with a halo made of curls,
A blessing from the Lord, you’re “daddy’s little girl”.
With a heart for serving, those who are in need,
And an overflowing love that brightens every day.
You’re my “Spider Legs”, my “Sleepy Head”,
I love you.

Instrumental

I watch you play your games, with such passion.
The will to win is foremost on your mind.
Compete in life but always do remember,
God’s will should forever define your life.
He reveals His plan, to those who seek Him,
Listen and the Spirit will lead you on.
Pursue the path that our Lord, has laid for you.
(And) know the joy that comes with serving God.

Chorus

Bridge

Father I surrender all I have.
I place my baby in your arms.
Lead (Guide) her as she walks throughout her life,
Teach her to listen with her heart.

Chorus

I love you. I love you…
