Hell’s Rap (1998)
Joe Halter/M. Papierski

I spent some time working with a criminal attorney and had the opportunity to make many jail visits. Also, I helped out for years with a Bible study at the Gateway Foundation, a alcohol and drug rehabilitation program, ministering to many people who were trying to free themselves from their addictions. Among those people were a number of young “gangbangers.” I wrote this song for them. Although this song is not my preferred style it’s not written for me. It’s my attempt to reach these kids with music with which they can relate. Hopefully, this song will get their attention long enough to hear the message and cause them to accept Christ.

I think I’m bad, I think I’m hot.
I’m part of a gang that cannot be stopped.
Doin’ what I want when I get the feelin’,
Stealin’, dealin’, killin’ and schemin’.
Got no rules, there’s no wrong or right,
It’s all about me and feelin’ good inside.
I see what I want, I take what I see.
My “blood brothers” give me credibility.

Now I’m layin’ on the floor, in a puddle of blood,
In a solitary cell ‘cause all I done.
Can’t call the guard or crawl for help,
A knife in my back, I’m by myself.
I pledged to serve “the cause” and to give my life.
Now I’m laying here dying, no “brother’s” in sight.
I thought they all cared. How could I believe?
They’re not my brothers - not my family.

Chorus
You’re fallin’ fast. You’re off the path.
Do you see yourself, headed straight for hell?
Will you break your fall? You still got time,
To save yourself, Just accept Christ.

I’m gettin weaker by the minute. I feel the end is near.
I wonder where I’m headed and filled with fear.
I’m cold and its dark, its time to check out.
Is this all there is? Is this what life’s about?
I’m way gone now things are startin’ to spin.
Temperature’s a risen, now I see my sins.
Why did I go and do what I did with my life?
I convicted myself. I’m condemned for all-time.

Come into my “house” I’m the king of this ”hood”.
Your pleadin’ and screamin’ will do you no good.
You’re here to stay, can’t go anywhere.
Settle in “brother”, its “hot” down here.
I played with your mind, you felt you belonged,
But its you who made the choice to do right or wrong.
Don’t you know who I am? I’ll introduce myself.
I’m Satan, the “Deceiver” son welcome to Hell!

Chorus
Your time is up. You can’t go back.
Can’t change your mind. Gotta do your time.
You had no fear. (You) staked your soul.
Your fate is set. You lost the bet.

I know I’m a fool, don’t be lookin’ at me.
I need more than your pity and your sympathy.
Hell is Hell. It will never change.
It’s the price you pay when you play my game.
It’s like sittin’ in an oven set on broil,
Or layin’ in a frying pan filled with oil.
Do you hear the screams and feel the fear?
Take it from me boy, you best steer clear.

Instrumental

This is not a dream, its reality.
Claim Jesus as your Savior. He’ll set you free.
It’s only too late if you’re already dead.
Don’t take my word for it, read what God has said.
No matter what you’ve thought, no matter what you did,
God loves you so much He’ll forgive every sin.
Eternity awaits, go on and make your move.
Is it Heaven or Hell? The choice is up to you...

Chorus
You better heed, the warning signs.
And save your soul, while you got time.
Don’t hesitate, and (Don’t) miss your chance,
To get yourself, on the righteous path.

The Cilley Man (1998)
Joe Halter/M. Papierski

Charlie Cilley accepted Christ at fifty years of age and he’s been trying to make up for lost time ever since.  I have known few men so passionate about spreading the “Good News.”  Charlie seems locked in to the Holy Spirit and I admire him for that.  He is always ready and willing to act upon the Spirit’s leading at any time day or night.  It seemed as if every time I would see Charlie he would be wearing a tie.  One day a chided him about that grabbing his tie and yanking it.  To my surprise Charlie’s clip-on tie ended up in my hand.  Charlie just laughed.  I appreciate his healing ministry and his desire to have every Christian receive the Holy Spirit into their heart.

Chorus
He’s a dancing fool, a fool for Christ.
Spirit filled, electrified.
Tellin’ the world, about God’s own Son.
Led by Faith, he’s gettin’ it done.
Sleeps fully dressed, with a clip on tie,
Awaiting God’s call, he’s got the Spirit on-line.
Anointing and healing, and laying on hands.
Radically saved, he’s the Cilley man.

You can find him in the church,
You can find him on the street.
Livin’ God’s Word,
And feedin’ God’s sheep.
Housing the homeless,
And leading the lost.
Bringing them all,
To the foot of Christ’s Cross.

He’s the Deacon of the Dance,
He’s the Broker we revere.
He’ll sell you on Jesus,
Just lend him your ear.
Sinners are saved,
Not by his own hand,
But “By the grace of God”,
Says the Cilley man.
“By the grace of God”,
Says the Cilley man.

Chorus

Instrumental

Bridge
He’s an inspiration to all who claim Christ,
I’m proud to say that he’s a brother of mine.

Chorus
Radically saved, he’s the Cilley man.
Radically saved, he’s a silly man...
