Make No Idol (2002)
Joe Halter/M. Papierski
God’s
II Commandment is clear. Worship Him alone and place no one and no thing before
Him. Many “things” can become idols in our lives. Those “things” can cause us to
move away from God. If we move away from Him, God cannot fulfill His desires for
our lives. God knows this and in His wisdom established the II Commandment. He
has promised to reward our faithfulness and bless a thousand generations if we
will keep his commandments.

Will you fashion an idol,
To suit your every need?
Do you gratify your cravings,
Chasing after worldly things?
Is your heart pure and shameless,
Or is it filled with lust and greed?
Who do you really worship?
Is it you or is it Me?
Chorus
Make no idol,
I Am the One True God.
Place none before Me.
For I Am jealous of your love.
And I will bless you,
If you obey My Laws.
But if you turn away,
My Judgment you will face.
Make no idol…Make no idol…
Will you bow down before Me?
Generations pay the price,
For the choices you make,
Through the course of your life.
The Deceiver, he’s a liar.
He’ll entice you into sin.
Preying on your desires,
He would have you worship him.
Chorus
Make no idol…Make no idol…
Bridge
Got to guard your heart and guard your mind, and keep an ever watchful eye.
Subtle idols can be raised that will cause a godly man to stray…
Chorus (repeat)
Make no idol…Make no idol…Make no idol…Make no idol…
