Walk With Me (Dear Susan) (2000)

Joe Halter/M. Papierski

It is hard to face mistakes we’ve made and to seek forgiveness but that’s what Christ calls us to do.  This song is for my wife Susan who has endured a lot over our fourteen years of marriage.  I thank God for her love and support.

I know that in the past you’ve seen,

An angry man who looks like me.

Who tried to change who you are,

And left your heart so badly scarred.

Instead of building up his wife,

He tore her down and made her cry.

And finally now he clearly sees,

The pain he’s caused, how much she means.

All I can to you,

Is forgive me for hurting you.

Despite all I’ve said and done,

There’s no one else I’ve ever loved.

Chorus

So, take my hand.  Walk with me,

Into tomorrow.

One in love, one in faith,

Together you and I shall remain.

Don’t look back on the past.

Let’s let it go now.

We’ll start anew- me and you,

Walk with me.

I pray that you begin to see,

A different man, a different me.

A caring soul, a giving heart,

Just like the person that you are.

A partner to share the years.

To share the joys, the pain, the tears.

A man who truly lives each day,

In a Christ-like faith-filled way.

I finally can say to you,

I love you for being you.

You’ve always been the only one -

My wife, my friend, my one true love.

Chorus

Bridge

Do you recall our wedding vows?

And how we walked down that aisle.

Hand in hand and step in step,

Undaunted by (our life) what lay ahead.

Chorus

Let’s start anew, me and you,

Walk with me.

Will you start anew, me with you,

Will you walk with me?
