We Pray for Love (1999) Joe Halter/M. Papierski I have never been good at toasts. I wrote this song for my brother Carlos and his wife Shariese in lieu of a toast. This song is both a prayer and my testimony about Christ’s love in the context of marriage.

They come before Your altar, To dedicate their lives, And form a Holy union, As husband and as wife. As family and friends, We gather on this day, To witness two become one, To celebrate and pray...
1st Chorus
We pray for love. A love that never dies, That sacrifices and that serves, A love that Christ exemplified. A love that’s patient. A love that’s gentle and that’s kind, With a passion and devotion, That will burn in them throughout their lives.
They are each unique and special people. Each is gifted. Each is flawed. May they learn to accept each other, For who they are with all their faults. Bless them with Your Grace and Mercy. Grant to them forgiving hearts. For each of them is sure to stumble, And each is sure to miss the mark.
2nd Chorus
We pray for wisdom, To never compromise the truth. And to trust in one another, As partners often do. We pray for faith, To endure the trying times. For life is hard, but God is good. His light will shine through the darkest night.
